Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) Receptor is a transmembrane tyrosine kinase that is frequently overexpressed by tumours, and mediates proliferation and apoptosis protection.¹ IGF-1 receptor may be a central regulator of mammalian lifespan² and when activated, it results in survival and proliferation in mitosis-competent cells, and growth (hypertrophy) in tissues such as skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle. IGF1R is now an attractive anti-cancer treatment target.¹
