Description
Rotavirus (RV) is the major cause of infantile gastroenteritis worldwide, however, RV vaccination has substantially decreased the rate of infant mortality. RV is a double-stranded RNA virus in the family Reoviridae. There are nine species of RV referred to as A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I; rotavirus A is the most common species, responsible for more than 90% of rotavirus infections in humans.
