Description
Neurotrophin-4 (NT-4) is the product of the NTF4 gene and is a member of a family of
neurotrophic factors that control survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons.
Neurotrophin-4 (NT-4) exerts its effects by binding to neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 2
(NTRK2; also called TrkB). NT-4 has been shown to play a crucial role in the development of
long-term memory and has also been implicated in the regulation of appetite and in body weight
control.
