Description
Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) is primarily expressed in the reproductive and respiratory tracts and is overexpressed in epithelial ovarian cancer. The HE4 gene product is an Nglycosylated protein which is secreted into the extracellular environment and can be detected in the bloodstream of patients with ovarian cancer. HE4 was found to be elevated in more than half of ovarian tumors that do not express CA125.
