Angiotensin II (5-8) is the smallest angiotensin peptide with a potent and selective antinociceptive effect, acting via neuronal-nitric oxide(NO) synthase-soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC)-endogenous opioid pathway in the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray matter (vlPAG).
